Where Beauty
Becomes an
Economy:
Inside the Vision Powering NYC Lash Elite

New York City has always been the place where industries reinvent themselves. Fashion found its pulse here. Finance sharpened its edge here. Technology scaled its ambition here. Now, beauty—often underestimated, often feminized, often dismissed—is stepping into its next evolution. And at the center of that shift stands Amna Afsheen.
NYC Lash Elite is not an event born out of trend-chasing. It is a response. A correction. A recalibration of an industry that has long relied on consumption, but rarely invested in the creators who fuel it.

We asked Amna :
What is it that you do?
NYC Lash Elite™ is a curated education, artistry, recognition, and professional networking platform created for the lash, brow, esthetics, and professional beauty industry.
We bring together respected educators, artists, industry leaders, emerging professionals, and beauty brands from New York, across the United States, and internationally. Our purpose is to create an environment where professionals can learn directly from one another, experience advanced techniques and products, build meaningful industry relationships, and receive recognition for their artistry and achievements.“

What is it that you do?
NYC Lash Elite™ is intentionally different from a traditional beauty trade show. We are not trying to fill a room with hundreds of vendors or create an experience where people simply walk from booth to booth. We focus on curated education, live artistry, thoughtful conversations, collaboration, professional visibility, and genuine connection.
For 2027, that vision expands into a three-day experience featuring the Elite Artistry Showcase™, global education and speakers, industry discussions, professional recognition, and an awards gala celebrating talent and achievement within our industry.“

“Beauty isn’t just about aesthetics anymore,” Amna says.
“It’s about systems—education, sustainability, safety, and economic mobility.”

For over two decades, Amna has worked at the intersection of artistry and entrepreneurship. She has trained thousands, judged internationally, and watched firsthand as innovation surged ahead in Europe while much of the U.S. market remained stuck—overexposed to trends, underexposed to technique.

We asked Amna :
Who are your PEOPLE?
Our people are beauty professionals who are serious about their craft, their education, their businesses, and the future of the industry. They include lash and brow artists, estheticians, educators, academy owners, students, salon and studio owners, entrepreneurs, established industry leaders, emerging talent, and professional beauty brands. Some of our attendees have spent many years building successful careers, while others are still discovering where they belong in the industry. We intentionally bring those different levels together because we believe growth happens when experience, new talent, education, and opportunity are allowed to meet in the same room.
Our community is both local and international. New York gives us an extraordinary meeting point for professionals from different backgrounds, countries, techniques, and schools of thought. Most importantly, our people are not simply an “audience.” They participate. They ask questions, share their knowledge, build relationships, support one another, collaborate and, in many cases, return the following year in larger roles. That sense of community is a very important part of NYC Lash Elite™.

“The European beauty market is years ahead,” she explains.
“Not just in fashion—but in formulation, regulation, and education. Their products are cleaner. Vegan. Protective. Their techniques are evolving faster. And I kept asking myself—why aren’t we learning directly from that?”
NYC Lash Elite is her answer.

We asked Amna :
Why should they care?
Because talented beauty professionals deserve more than another crowded event—they deserve a place where their education, artistry, voice, and professional growth genuinely matter. The beauty industry moves extremely quickly. New techniques, products, educators, and trends appear constantly, but meaningful access to the people behind that knowledge can still be difficult. NYC Lash Elite™ creates an opportunity to bring those worlds together in a carefully selected environment. An emerging artist may sit in the same room as an internationally recognized educator. A small business owner may develop a relationship with a professional brand. An educator may discover their next collaboration. A student may see a career path they did not know existed. And recognition matters as well. There are extraordinarily talented professionals working quietly every day who may never have had a platform that acknowledges what they have accomplished. We want people to leave NYC Lash Elite™ with more than photographs and a goodie bag. We want them to leave with knowledge, relationships, confidence, visibility, inspiration, and opportunities that can continue long after the event ends. That is our reason for being.“

“Not just in fashion—but in formulation, regulation, and education. Their products are cleaner. Vegan. Protective. Their techniques are evolving faster. And I kept asking myself—why aren’t we learning directly from that?”

A Bridge, Not a Showcase
Unlike traditional expos that prioritize sales floors and surface-level branding, NYC Lash Elite is designed as a knowledge exchange economy—a deliberate bridge between European innovation and American entrepreneurship.
International brands gain structured access to the U.S. market. Local brands gain proximity to advanced techniques and global standards. Artists gain visibility without gatekeeping. And sponsors don’t simply place logos—they participate in an ecosystem.

“This isn’t exposure for exposure’s sake,” Amna says. “This is alignment. Collaboration. Shared growth.”
The result is a rare convergence: global educators, local founders, and independent artists occupying the same room—not competing, but co-creating.

Why This Moment Matters
The timing is no accident. The beauty industry is projected to surpass $700 billion globally, yet the majority of its labor force remains fragmented—women-owned, immigrant-led, small-scale businesses operating without institutional support.

NYC Lash Elite reframes sponsorship as participation in economic infrastructure.
“When a brand sponsors this event, they’re not just supporting women-owned businesses,” Amna says. “They’re supporting the local economy. The state. The future workforce. They’re supporting collaboration over competition.”
It’s a philosophy that resonates deeply in New York—a city built by hands that were once overlooked.

From Skill to Scale
At the heart of the event is education—not performative demonstrations, but transferable knowledge. Techniques imported from Europe aren’t meant to impress; they’re meant to be implemented.
“We’re not here to admire innovation
from a distance,” Amna says.
“We’re here to learn it, apply it, and
raise the standard of our businesses.”
That shift—from inspiration to implementation—is what transforms artistry into enterprise. And enterprise into impact.

We asked Amna :
Please tell us a little backstory.
NYC Lash Elite™ grew from my own experience as a working beauty professional, educator, and small-business owner in New York.
Through Brows by Amna®, teaching, working with students, meeting educators from different countries, and attending industry events, I began to recognize a gap. There were large beauty shows, competitions, educational programs, and networking events, but I wanted to create something more personal—something where education, artistry, recognition, business, and human connection could exist together.
I also knew how much talent existed among independent artists and smaller beauty businesses. Many of these professionals are exceptional at what they do but may not always have access to the same stages, visibility, relationships, or opportunities as larger organizations.
That became part of the foundation of NYC Lash Elite™.

We asked Amna :
Please tell us a little more of the backstory.
The goal was never simply to create another event. The goal was to build a platform where established professionals could share what they have learned, emerging artists could see what is possible, brands could build genuine relationships with professionals, and people from different parts of the world could meet in New York through a shared respect for the beauty industry.
Our 2026 event confirmed that there was an appetite for that kind of experience. The relationships and feedback that came from it encouraged us to expand the concept for 2027 into three days of artistry, education, conversation, collaboration, recognition, and celebration.
NYC Lash Elite™ continues to evolve, but its purpose remains very simple: bring the right people together, give great artistry and education a meaningful platform, and create opportunities that continue beyond the event itself.“

A New Definition of Beauty Leadership
Perhaps what sets NYC Lash Elite apart most is its refusal to separate beauty from economics.
This is not an event about lashes or brows alone. It’s about how women build wealth, how small businesses scale responsibly, and how global collaboration strengthens—not threatens—local markets.
“If we grow together, everyone rises,” Amna says. “That’s not idealism. That’s strategy.”
In an industry often driven by spectacle, NYC Lash Elite is something rarer: intentional. Structured. Forward-looking.
And in a city that thrives on ambition, the message is unmistakable—beauty is no longer on the sidelines of business. It’s stepping into its power.
