We spoke to Laura Kamin on
an extended telephone call
one afternoon. She spoke
expertly about a very
fascinating journey of how
Ultimate Fashion I & II
came to be. 

Tucked within the Staten Island Mall, Ultimate Fashions II stands as a quiet testament to style that endures beyond seasons and trends. It is not a store that shouts; it speaks—confidently, warmly, and with an instinctive understanding of its clientele. 

From very humble beginnings up until today, she has a very delightful story and an unwavering allegiance to her clientele from their Christening to their Wedding Day.

The Beginning

Laura Kamin started Ultimate Fashions as a home business. Back then, in 1988, she started selling out of the trunk of her car and was known for doing local house parties which featured dresses and evening wear for girls and young women. 

As her daughters aged, so did her
collection. This was how she
supported herself and her three
children after leaving a very
abusive marriage. 

She progressed her business into a kiosk in 1994 at Woodbridge Center Mall and then upgraded to an 800 square ft store. She then started selling adult casual wear by 2000. 

In 2004, she began selling evening and formal wear.

By 2015, she had fully upgraded to a new location with 5,300 square ft to accommodate our consumer needs and accessibilities in formal wear, accessories, and party planning. She has been a proud business for over 39 years, striving to make our clientele feel beautiful, both inside and out, through personalized customer service. 

Being a grandmother of 3 girls and
mother to daughters, I understand
the struggles young girls face today
regarding their body image. It is my
mission to eliminate as much of that
insecurity as I can. At the end of the
day, what I most strive for are the
smiles and excitement shown on our
client’s faces after finding the outfit
of their dreams.” 

With hard work, compassion, drive, and honesty as our key drivers, Ultimate Fashions received the Small Business Person of the Year Award of 2003 by PNC Bank, the Small Business Person of the Year Award of 2005 by the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce, Elite Retailer Award of 2017 and the High Fashion Award of 2019 by Jovani, and Best Prom Store of 2018 by Pageant Planet.

Our Mission

In this time that social media plays a large part in society
and tearing women down. I want to be the matriarch
of building them up by having the ability to help girls
from all walks of life in making their dreams a reality
at their special event. By doing so, it enables me to be
able to give back to the community in a way that I wish
was available when I was young. In being a pillar, I can
help raise a girl’s self-esteem, therefore creating the
next generation of strong, beautiful, independent women.” 

Through proper training and leading by example, our staff have learned how to not only be knowledgeable about the dresses we sell, but also increase their deeper compassion (EQ) for the clients who we work with.

to their body issues. 

In an effort to expand our reach to the young ladies of today, we attend prom and wedding expos, pageants, high school fashion shows, and trunk shows. Over the next several years, we plan to continue our charity work and expand upon it, as well as continue expanding and upgrading the business to enable our strive for excellence. 

Ultimate Fashions I & II dresses young ladies
and women for every type of relevant life event:
Christenings, Communions, Sweet 16s, Bat Mitzvah,
a Homecoming, all the way up to their Wedding. 

Alterations and
Other Services

Along with dressing you for your event, we also can help with all the other details and accessories. We have several talented seamstresses on site and also provide assistance in many other aspects; from choosing a venue, to the music, DJ selection, cuisine, lighting, and everything in between. This allows us to help curate the perfect party with decorator, invitations as well as photographer and so much more.
